An outdated kitchen can look boring or stuck in the past decade and you don’t want that especially when you want to sell your home or just impress and entertain your guests in your kitchen. To some, renovations towards modernizing the kitchen can be a pain both on your head and on your wallet. This is because most people tend to do drastic changes to the kitchen when there is actually a simple solution to the problem.

Changing Cabinet Knobs

The only thing that you need to do is to change the knobs or the handles of the cabinets in your kitchen. It might seem that this is just a very small change but this change is enough to make your cabinets look a little more modern than what it is before. Select from the cabinet knobs range that you can find online or on your local shops and you can surely find a more modern looking one.

If you are thinking of replacing the knobs, make sure that you carefully count how many you need. You may even add an extra if you feel the need to. Buying in bulk might be able to save you more than purchasing one at a time so be sure to know how many you really need.

Aside from knobs being not as expensive as changing your whole cabinets, it is also easy to do. In fact, you can do it on your own. It’s really simple and you just need to trust yourself that you can do it. You don’t need specialized tools; a drill and a screw driver are just some of the tools that you already have at home. The only problem that you might face is trying to figure out what to do with the old holes that your previous know or pull was attached to. Surely you can use them for the newer and more modern knobs that you purchased but if you are replacing a pull that requires two holes, you wouldn’t want the other hole just left like that.

Cleaning your cabinet doors and fascias

Giving your cabinets a good all over clean can really make a massive difference to the look of your kitchen. This doesnt mean your every day clean that you would normally perform but rather a deep clean which could take you several days to complete. The best thing is to purchase a heavy duty cleaner for the job as well as several different types of cleaning cloth. Then go over each cabinet several times to get every last stain off and also to bring up the original color. You can also polish each cabinet after you have finished cleaning and eventually you should be able to get the cabinets perfectly clean and looking like new.

Repair Old Holes In Your Cabinets

If you happen to have extra hole or holes that are not quite in the right place, you can fill up that hole with the use of wooden dowels. Choose one that is of the same type as your cabinets. These dowels are usually sold in a length of about 12 inches so you can use just one of them for all the extra holes in your cabinets. Simply cut it into the length that you need.

The wooden dowels won’t stay inside the holes on its own. You need to make use of wood glue to make sure it stays in plays. You can sand over the dowel and the cabinet door or you can just carefully measure the length of the dowel so that you wouldn’t need to sand it down to fit the hole. You can make use of varnish or wood stain to further give your cabinets a more modern look.
